Nic Jones
Thiel’s Nic Jones received a final honor to cap his memorable junior season in track and field.
Jones, a Franklin High School graduate, was recently named to the Capital One Academic All-America Division III Track & Field/Cross Country Second Team.
Jones was named the Field MVP at the Presidents’ Athletic Conference outdoor track and field championships after winning the high jump (2.08 meters) and placing second in the long jump (6.91 meters) and triple jump (13.82 meters). Jones went on to finished 10th in the high jump (6 feet, 9 inches) at the NCAA Division III championships.
Jones took fourth in the high jump at the NCAA Division III indoor track championships in March, earning All-American status with a jump of 6 feet, 8.25 inches. He also was named MVP at this year’s PAC indoor championships after winning the high jump (6 feet, 9 inches) and long jump (22 feet, 5.25 inches) and finishing second in the triple jump (44 feet, 2 inches).
Jones carries a 3.87 grade-point average as an Early Childhood Education major. Jones also is his class vice president.
